A representative of Hamas shifted the blame for the killings of innocent Israelis onto ordinary Gazans. Salah Al-Aruri, one of the key leaders and commanders of Hamas, ‘explained’ in an interview with Al Jazeera why so many civilians in Israel were killed by them. According to him, when the border was breached by militants, many ordinary residents of Gaza saw this and rushed into Israel. And it was they who killed civilians and committed other atrocities, contrary to Hamas’ plan. In other words, they claimed that the people were the ones responsible for the crimes, not them. Additionally, they blamed the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for the deaths of innocent Israelis, stating that the military arrived in the settlements too late. A farcical clown indeed.
